Jim and Nancy's Heartland Landmark 5th Wheel Trailer Weights |

I weighed my rig on the way out of town on our first trip with it (April 29, 2005) and then again after I dropped the trailer 3 days later. The trailer was at what I will consider as my typical "loaded" weight. The truck was as well (2 passengers, 2 dogs, full tank etc.).
Below are the CAT scale weights for the Truck and Trailer and then for the Truck only. Simple math gives me the trailer weights. I have also included some detailed analysis comparing my weights to Dodge and Heartland's specs. As you will see, I appear to be 200 pounds over Dodge's GCWR (Gross Combination Weight Rating = truck + trailer) and I appear to be 224 pounds over pin weight, using 20% of the trailer GVW (Gross Vehicle Weight) as a maximum figure.
That all said, I am well under on the truck and trailer axle weights and under on the trailer GVWR. The rig seemed to pull and stop very well. I guess the real test will be up and down some mountainous terrain. We will be pulling through the Smoky Mountains this fall so that's as tough a test as it will get this year. If I begin to feel that I need to lighten my load to get under the truck's GCWR, I'll travel with empty tanks, saving me about 500 pounds over the weights below. The extra pin weight does not concern me at this point.
