Wisconsin Dells Area
Lake Delton, WI
August 19-22, 2004

Nancy and I camped with Nancy's son Mike at Lake Delton in the Wisconsin Dells area.  While a bit too cool to go to the water parks, the sun was out and it was warm enough to enjoy the the outdoors the entire time.  We fished, mini-golfed, shopped etc.  We also met some nice campers (as we always manage to do) and got to know the park owners a bit.

The Trip
I began this trip alone, traveling to my Trailmanor dealer, Dan Lange at Danny's Campers in Coloma, WI.  I needed to have a few items repaired/adjusted on my trailer.  It was a peaceful drive up north at 5:30 in the morning and Dan and his mechanic, Brian were helpful as usual.  I headed towards Lake Delton from Coloma around noon.

The Campground
I arrived at Country Roads Motorhome & RV Park about an hour after leaving Coloma.  What a bunch of friendly folks (owners and volunteers).  I believe the campground is owned by Terri and Terry Michael.  Terri checked me in and escorted me (via golf-cart) to my pull-through site.  This has got to be the most efficient campground layout I have seen this season.  Four and a quarter concentric circles containing about 100 sites in total.  About 28 sites have full hook-ups while the rest all have water and electricity.  Each site has a tree and a fire ring or box and nearly all of the sites are pull-throughs!  Amenities at the campground include: a very nice heated swimming pool (>80 degrees), horse shoe pits, a large outdoor pavilion with a huge vented fire pit.  The camp store was nicely stocked with camp food stuffs and camping gear/equipment.  The offered free coffee as well.  The same building houses washer/dryers, restrooms and showers and a room with books and a Karaoke machine.  The campground also offers, LP tanks refilling, modem hookup and pump-out service.  To other campers, if you are looking for a place to stay while you are in the Dells area or just passing through Wisconsin and you are looking for "peace and quite" (they cater to the adult), this is the place!

The Dells
Since it was a bit too cool (from the wind mostly) to go to the water parks, we did other things.

Story to be continued and pictures to be added as soon as I have the time to finish it all...

Jim
