Trip to Bristol, WI area
Happy Acres Kampground
July 9-11, 2004

This weekend, we traveled to the Bristol, WI area to camp in order to attend the Bristol Renaisance Faire and to shop at the Premier Outlet Shops near Kenosha, WI.  We spent 2 nights at Happy Acres Kampground west of Kenosha and north of Bristol.  We had a nice time at the Faire and got some great deals on clothing and housewares at the outlet shops.  Lisa and her boyfriend Mike joined us for dinner one night as well.

Route Map

Campground
Happy Acres Kampground is located west of Kenosha and north of Bristol on CR-NN

Happy Acres Kampground offers ~xxx individual RV campsites.  The sites break down as (approximately) as follows:

- xx Seasonal RV (some with full-hookup and others with water/electric only)
- xx Standard water/electric
- xx Monthly sites

They also have 2 large tent areas

I'd estimate the campground to be around xx acres in size.

Restroom/shower facilities: We didn't use the showers but Nancy said they were clean and "coin-operated".  Restrooms were also clean and free.

We stayed in pull-through site number 103.  I asked for a site with more mature trees and I got one but I could barely fit my 30' trailer on it.  I had to park my small Jeep sideways in front of the trailer, the site was so short.  If we go back, we'd opt for site 101 as it's longer.

The fire ring was near the front of our site.  They were all decent sized truck rims (the usual).  Ours was not cleaned out.  I cleaned out dirty socks and a six pack of beer cans.

Each site has a grill on a tall (~3') stand.  Ours was at the back of the site.  It was not too usable due to it's design.  On a calm day, not enough air gets to the fire to keep it going.  And those large grates are just not too useful unless you're grilling a large chunk of meat.

The water and electrical hookups were well situated at the back of the site and were in good condition.  BUT, there were wasps nesting in mine and I got stung twice on the day we left as I was unplugging.  That hurt (for a few days!).  We notified the office and asked them to spray it so the next camper would not get stung.

Click here to see the site map.  This was a nice "family" campground and is really the only campground in the immediate Bristol area.  .  And I'd bring my swim trunks so I could enjoy the pool!
