Alfredo Sauce
This recipe is awesome and is so easy to make. I found
it at www.allrecipes.com, and modified
it slightly. Give this one a try!
Ingredients
 |
1/2 cup butter |
 |
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese |
 |
1 to 1-1/2 teaspoons garlic powder (adjust as
you'd like) |
 |
2 cups half-and-half cream |
 |
6 ounces grated Parmesan cheese |
 |
1/8th teaspoon ground white pepper |
Steps
- Melt butter in a medium, non-stick saucepan over medium heat, stirring to
prevent butter from burning.
- Add cream cheese, garlic powder and white pepper and stir with a whisk
until butter/cheese mixture is smooth and well incorporated.
- Begin adding the half-and-half cream, a little at a time. Whisk mixture to
smooth out any lumps after each addition.
- Stir in Parmesan cheese. Continue to whisk the mixture until cheese
melts. Depending on the cheese used, and how finely grated it is, you
may want to turn the heat up a bit as coarsely shredded Parmesan cheese has
a high melt temperature. Be very careful to continue whisking as you
melt the cheese, to prevent the sauce from burning.
- Use more half-and-half cream or milk, to thin the mixture if it becomes too
thick.
- Remove from heat, once the cheese is
all melted, the sauce is hot and has reached your desired consistency.
Then serve it over your favorite pasta
Makes about 4 to 6 servings.
