Angel Biscuits
I have yet to try this recipe. If you try it, let me know what you think of it and any
modifications you made to it to improve it.
Ingredients
- 1 cake yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon soda
- 2 tablespoons lukewarm water
- 1 cup shortening (like CriscoŽ)
- 4 tablespoons sugar
- 2 cups buttermilk
- 5 cups plain white flour
Steps
- Dissolve yeast into water
- In a large bowl, sift flour and all other dry ingredients
- Cut in shortening, add buttermilk, then add yeast/water mixture
- Stir until all flour is dampened
- Knead biscuit dough on a floured board for a minute, roll to desired thickness and cut
dough with a biscuit cutter
- Bake at 400 degrees for about 12 minutes
Dough may be refrigerated for about a week.
