Specifications/Features:
I purchased this under-the-rail tool chest from Dan's Service. The chest is made by K&W Manufacturing in Michigan. I researched a few brands (Knack/Weatherguard, K&W etc.) but stayed focused on under-the-rail style chests.
When Dan's installed it for me, I asked them to make is to that 1 person could easily take remove it and reinstall it without having to get underneath the truck to do it. Dan's delivered! They positioned the chest in the bed and drilled the 4 mounting holes through the chest and the bed. Then they fabricated a pair of steel mounting rails with 2 holes drilled in each with nuts welded over the holds. These brackets were mounted to my frame under the box and positioned so the bolts through the chest and box would be captured by the 4 nuts welded to the brackets. Perfect!
I store my generator, air compressor and tools in the chest. I keep it locked and whenever possible, I keep the bed cover closed. Because I do store the generator inside the chest with gasoline in it, I plan to vent the chest at both ends to ventilate any fumes from the box.
