Archive for the Travel CategoryWe had seafood for dinner at Ivar’s and we ate outside. The seagulls were “out of control”! They are used to being fed here. And man can they catch a French fry in the air!
A view of a few downtown buildings, from the waterfront.
We had a drink and a snack at The Fisherman’s at this pier.
While we didn’t visit it, we did walk by the Seattle Aquarium.
We spent a good part of the day at the Public Market. Located here is the Pike Place Fish Market, The Farmer’s Market and more.
Here’s the seafood place that is famous for throwing and catching the fish! We saw them do it and got a little video of it as well.
The produce at the various stores here was awesome.
The size of the lobsters, clams and shrimps at this store was incredible.
There were a good many shops selling flowers. Nancy may get a bouquet on Saturday to take on the ship on Sunday to have in our room. Someone at the Goshen rally told her they did this. They have decent bouquets for $5.
Here’s the Monorail.
We rode the Monorail from Seattle Center where the Space Needle is to downtown (3rd and Pine). It’s only a 1 mile but was kind of neat to do. Especially when your feet are killing you from a day of walking already. Fare is $2.
Here’s a view of the downtown skyline as taken from the restaurant atop the Space Needle.

In St. Louis (Granite City, IL) at the KOA on my way to 2009 EscapadePosted by: Jim in Friends, Illinois, Missouri, RV, RV Rallies, RV Shows, TravelI am in Granite City, Illinois - almost St. Louis, Missouri. I am overnighting here at the KOA on my way to the 2009 Escapees Escapade at the Missouri State Fairgrounds in Sedalia, Missouri. I arrived back in Texas today. Flew from Chicago to San Antonio where my friend, fellow Heartlander and forum moderator Jim M picked me up at the airport and brought me back to his place in George West, TX. Took Jim and Bette out for dinner, got me some groceries and settled back into the RV in Jim/Bette’s back yard. Heading out on Wednesday morning for Houston (Spring) for the Heartland Owners Spring Houston Rally at Rayford Crossing RV Resort. It’s nice to have left snow and temps in the low 20s to sunshine and temps in the 80s/90s I arrived in the Rio Grande Valley area of south Texas on Monday afternoon. I am renting a site for 3 nights at Retama Village in Mission, TX. Nice place. The site I am on is a “coach house” site. When you purchase the site, you get a 12′x20′ coach house shell built for you as well. Then you can finish the interior as you see fit. I spent the afternoon in Nuevo Progreso, Mexico today, just over the border from Mercedes, TX. I went with Joseph D and Gene H. We walked over. Got a nice $5 haircut too. Below are some pics from the trip.
Here I am on the center of the bridge. The border is the center of the sign.
Here is the sign at the entrance to Nuevo Progreso, Mexico
The Mexican Army was present in this border town.
Well, in the last 11 days, I’ve put on over 2,000 miles. Not bad considering I normally would not even take the RV out before the end of March.
Today I left Kerrville, TX and the RV.net Sweetheart Rally at Buckhorn Lake RV Resort. Nice place, nice rally, great people at the rally. We had fun.
I pulled out around 10 am today for Mission Texas. With a food and a fuel stop, I arrived at my destination, Retama Village around 5 pm. One of my customers and friends, Kathy A made dinner. Yummy. Then we went to see our mutual friends, Lex and Bonnie, also here in Retama Village. Nice night. Time to work on my expense report.
